Sunny skies this weekend but temps stay below freezing

Skies will be sunny but it will be cold this weekend with temperatures staying below freezing.

The high for Saturday and Sunday is expected to be near 31 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Saturday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 18 degrees. Some flurries before 9 p.m. are possible.

Sunday night will be mostly clear with an overnight low around 23 degrees.

Monday will be partly sunny and warmer with a high near 43 degrees. There is a slight chance of rain after 1 p.m.

Rain becomes likely Monday night, mainly before 1 a.m. It will be cloudy with an overnight low around 35 degrees.

Skies will be mostly cloudy and warmer Christmas Eve with a high near 44 degrees. Tuesday night will be cloudy with an overnight low around 35 degrees.

Christmas Day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 48 degrees. There is a chance of rain, too. Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 38 degrees.
