Occasional chances for showers and a few thunderstorms are expected from Sunday night into Tuesday along with warm conditions, while more seasonable seasonable temperatures return to the region by midweek.

Today will be mostly cloudy with highs near 81 degrees, followed by a rainy and stormy overnight as lows fall around 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Rain showers with possible thunderstorms are on the forecast for Tuesday. Wind gusts between 7 to 10 mph may occur.Highs will be around 79 degrees.

Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. The lows will fall around 63 degrees.

Seasonably moderate conditions continue Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and overcast skies. Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy but cool as lows fall around 62 degrees.

Partly sunny skies strike on Thursday with highs in the lower to mid-80s, followed by a mostly overcast night as lows fall around 62 degrees.

The NWS said there’s potential for additional rainfall toward the end of the workweek into next weekend, but the details of the pattern at these extended ranges are still somewhat uncertain.
