Freezing cold with snow showers starting in afternoon; Winter Weather Advisory today

Today will be freezing cold with snow starting this afternoon and continuing overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Highs will be around 27 degrees.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect across the area from 11 a.m. today through 7 a.m. Saturday, issued by the NWS, due to the area receiving snow accumulations between three and four inches.

The agency said that drivers should plan on slippery roads that could impact the Friday evening commute.

Tonight, snow will be likely before midnight, with a chance of snow in the early-morning hours. Lows will be around 20 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with highs around 28 degrees, followed by a mostly cloudy night with lows around 16 degrees.
