Residents should dress is layers including a hat, face mask and gloves, the NWS said, and pets should be kept indoors as much as possible.
Tonight will be mostly clear with lows dropping to around minus 5 degrees, though light winds will make it feel as cold as minus 12 degrees.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs around 20 degrees, followed by a mostly cloudy night with lows around 14 degrees.
Temperatures will rise to near freezing Thursday, with highs around 30 degrees under partly sunny skies, followed by a mostly cloudy night with lows around 14 degrees.
