HS Roundup 8/19: Centerville finishes second at Lady Elk Invitational

Girls Golf

Lady Elk Invitational: Centerville’s Meha Pandya shot a 73, her teammate Morgan Rodgers shot a 74, Lakota East’s Samantha Bernardo shot a 74 and Emily Grotjan of Springboro also shot a 74 to round out top local performers at the 2019 invitational. Centerville finished second to New Albany overall; Lakota East was 4th, Springboro 10, Lakota West 11th, Centerville B 12th, Beavercreek 14th and Northmont 16th.

Coldwater 201, Minster 219: Coldwater was led by Grace Buschur’s 49, Emma Eckstein’s 50, Laney Finke’s 51, Abby Ashbaugh’s 51, Sarah Diller’s 52 and Lexi Wright’s 59.

Fairbanks 180, Greenon 200: Fairbanks was led in scoring with Allison Kise’s 50, Shelby Burns’ 65, Gabby Vamos’ 45, Veronique Grand’s 43, Mary Weisburn’s 43, Kaylee Mitton’s 49 and Madeline Headings’ 73. Greenon was led by Makenzie Gossett’s 48, Sydney Wells’ 50, Avery Mayenshein’s 50 and Hannah Whipp’s 52.

National Trail 201, Franklin Monroe 229: The Blazers were led by Makenna Jones’ 38; Cait Gilland shot a 52, Katelyn Hines shot 55 and Brooklyn Middleton finished with a 58. Avery Rutan rounded out the Blazers with a 58.

Boys Golf

Botkins 167, Troy Christian 250: Top scorers for Botkins were Jameson Meyer with 42, Issac Cisco with 42 and Alex Bajwa with 41. Troy Christian was paced by Zane Harris with 52, Issac More with 60 and Noah Tullis with 61.

Brookville 159, Bellbrook 161: Brookville was led by Noah Holt’s 37

Kyle Neff’s 38. Bellbrook’s Mayne Lemon shot the medal round with a 36; teammates Ryan Wehner and Gabe Hine shot 40 and Zach Crampton added 45.

Benjamin Logan 165, North Union 222: The Raiders’ Ethan Ricketts led the way with a 39 followed by Alex Naragon with a 41.

Monroe 159, Eaton 187: Monroe’s Alex Gomia shot the hot round at 35 and was joined by teammates Jackson Baker’s 37 and Weston Triplett’s 43. Eaton was paced by Nate Crammer’s 43 and Travis Pittman’s 46. Monroe is now 4-0 overall, 1-0 in league.

Minster 156, Coldwater 171: For Minster, Grant Voisard and Grant Koenig landed 38, Joseph Magoto shot 43, Ethan Lehmkuhl shot 47, Jacob Wissman added 37 and Logan Sharp also shot 44. Coldwater’s Carson Muhlenkamp shot the hot round of 36, Collin Muhlenkamp shot 49, Nathan Kaiser added 41, Michael Schoenherr shot 45, Keaton Bruns shot 54 and Keegan Bruggeman also shot 49.

Versailles 175, New Knoxville 214: Versailles’ Connor VanSkyock shot a 42; Brandon Smith of the Rangers shot a 48.

St. Henry 185, New Bremen 203: St. Henry’s Reed Koesters, Andrew Mescher, Nate Niekamp and New Bremen’s Jarod Bergman combined to shoot the hot round of 46. St. Henry’s Sam Koesters shot a 47. For New Bremen, Devon Thieman shot 49, Preston Hoehne shot 53 and Josh Bensman finished with 55.

Dayton Christian 5, Newton 3: Dayton Christian was paced by Caleb McComas’ hat trick; Luke Reid also scored two for the Warriors.

Girls Tennis

Alter 4, Fairmont 1: Grace Lampman, Emily Pojman, and Mary Stier/Rachael Harker continued their winning ways with straight sets wins.

Northmont 4, Shawnee 1: Aubrey Ferrell and Rachel Smith won singles matches for the Bolts; Sydney Bowman/Chikodi Ibe and Ali Ullery/Lexi Mitchell won doubles matches for Northmont. Shawnee’s Jitka Jemelkova won the lone singles match for Shawnee.

Stebbins 5, Northridge 0: Northridge rode singles victories by Fifine Marshall, Rachael Carlson and Destiny Glenn.

Girls Volleyball

Bradford 3, Cedarville 2: Cedarville’s Luisa Christian had 8 kills and 3 solo blocks, Anna Shepherd chipped in 7 assists and 4 kills.

Eaton 3, National Trail 1: Eaton was led by Shay Perry’s 15 kills, Libby Giffen’s 11 kills, Carsyn Lammers’ 18 assists, Bailey Jerdon’s 18 assists and 5 digs and Olivia Baumann’s 11 digs.
