Prep roundup: Fairfield, Hamilton, Middletown impress in opening wins

Jutahn McClain rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns Friday as the Fairfield Indians beat visiting Centerville 33-7 to open the 2019 season.

McClain scored on runs of 2 and 33 yards and quarterback Sawiaha Ellis passed for a touchdown and rushed for a score.

The Indians’ defense limited the Elks to 116 yards.

Fairfield travels to Springfield next Friday.

Middletown 49, Cin. Western Hills 0: Josh Bryant rushed for 202 yards and three TDs on just 10 carries and the Middie defense limited the Mustangs to 11 yards.

Kamari Fuller tossed a pair of TD passes and rushed for a score. John “JC” Calhoun and Au’Braylen Million had TD receptions.

The Middies host Springboro next Friday night for their home opener.

Hamilton 21, West Clermont 7: Caleb Johnson rushed for 148 yards and a TD as visiting Big Blue made head coach Nate Mahon's debut a successful one.

Keyshawn Stephens added 71 yards rushing and a score and Quincy Simms-Marshall tossed a TD pass to Daryan Bowling.

Hamilton hosts Anderson next Friday in its home opener.

Edgewood 34, Monroe 6: The COugars opened with a big win over the visiting Hornets. Edgewood travels to Franklin next Friday.

Anna 48, Fenwick 14: The Falcons on the road in their opener. They host Norwood next Friday.

Talawanda 41, Preble Shawnee 7: Terrell Wills and Deondre Bothast-Revalee each went over the century mark along with a pair of touchdowns on the ground to help give Larry Cox a win in his first game as Talawanda's head coach.

New Miami 32, Gamble Montessori 6: The Vikings opened the season with a big home win. They host Landmark next Friday.

Kings 34, Lebanon 20: Keith Farr racked up 109 yards on the ground and Ethan Marsh scrambled for two scores and threw another one in a losing effort for Lebanon.

Kings RB Ty Stylski racked up 192 yards on the ground along with 52 receiving yards and two TD runs.

La Salle 31, Lakota West 7: Alex Afari's 35-yard punt return score was the lone highlight for Lakota West.

Springboro 34, Mason 7: Landon Palmer finished 11-of-11 with three TD passes and Moise Armbruster had 13 carries for 126 yards to pace Springboro, which built a 27-0 lead in the first half.

Turpin 35, Lakota East 21: Charlie Kenrich spurred the Lakota East attack with 115 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Mark Krajewski added a TD run and score.

CHCA 42, Carlisle 21: The Indians fell at home in the debut of new coach Scott Clodfelter. Carlisle travels to Kenton Ridge next Friday
