High school football: Hamilton, Lakota East standouts commit to Division I schools

A pair of seniors from the Greater Miami Conference found college football homes over the weekend.

Charlie Kenrich of Lakota East announced a commitment to Purdue on Saturday afternoon.

He had more than a dozen offers, including schools from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and Ivy League according to 247Sports.

Kaleb Johnson of Hamilton made his announcement Sunday night, choosing California from a group of 15 offers that included schools from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12.

Both are three-star rivals.com prospects and ranked among the top 20 prospects in Ohio per 247Sports.

Johnson ranked fifth in the GMC with 786 rushing yards last season for the Big Blue. He is the No. 53 running back in the country and No. 20 overall player in Ohio per 247Sports.

Kenrich is a three-star “athlete” prospect ranked No. 19 in the state among all players after he had 290 yards receiving and 245 yards rushing for the Thunderhawks last season.

The pair of FBS commitments gives the GMC five so far for the class of 2022.

Defensive back Jyaire Brown and offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola of Lakota West previously committed to Ohio State while their teammate Alex Afari is headed to Kentucky.
