Hamilton grad is a starter on defensive line for Duke

Charlie Hatcher is in his second season as the starting nose guard for Duke University’s football team.

Hatcher, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound redshirt junior and Hamilton High School graduate, has 19 total tackles (eight solos, 11 assists) this season for the Blue Devils, who are 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He has 3.5 tackles for loss.

Duke returns to action Saturday at Virginia Tech.

• Sophomore linebacker Eric Conrad (Lakota East) is the third-leading tackler for Denison, which stands 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Conrad has 14 solos, 18 assists and four tackles for loss. He has one interception.

Senior offensive tackle Seth Hodge (Ross) is also a starter for the Big Red.

• Junior tight end Josh Chichester (Lakota West) has nine catches for 168 yards for Louisville (3-3), which lost its Big East Conference opener to visiting Cincinnati 35-27 last Friday night.

Chichester has one touchdown this year, an 11-yard reception against UC.

Men’s soccer

Senior midfielder Chris Feller (Fairfield) has started every game this season for Ohio Dominican, which is 10-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Panthers are battling Ashland (7-0-2) for first place in the GLIAC.

• Junior midfielder Kyle Maxam (Lakota West) is the No. 3 scorer for Mount Vernon Nazarene with five goals and four assists.

The Cougars are 7-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the American Mideast Conference.

Women’s soccer

Indianapolis freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Braunig (Fairfield) is tied for the team lead in points with seven, collecting three goals and one assist.

The Greyhounds are 4-8-2 overall and 4-6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
