Senior Adam LaTulippe closed Union (Ky.) College’s fall golf schedule with a flourish last week, capturing the Tornado Fall Invitational individual championship.
LaTulippe, a Hamilton High School graduate, blistered the Country Club of Bristol (Tenn.) course with an 11-under-par total of 202 (66-66-70). He bested runner-up Jamie Chapman of Lincoln Memorial by nine shots.
Union’s third-year coach is Eric Wyrick, also an HHS graduate.
LMU won the team title with 871 strokes, followed by Milligan (872), Union (875) and King (890).
Women’s soccer
Ball State has several local players in key roles this season. The Cardinals are 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
Junior Kristina Anderson (Badin) and freshman Brigit Reder (Lakota West) are starting defenders. Anderson has collected a goal and two assists, while Reder has one goal and one assist.
Freshman midfielder Maggie Brown (Lakota West) has played in every game and made one start. She has scored two goals.
Sophomore midfielder Samantha Kieres (Fairfield), who didn’t play for BSU as a freshman, has seen action in five games off the bench.
Men’s soccer
Freshman forward Robert Bowling (Lakota West) has three goals and six starts for Bellarmine (8-4-1).
• Freshman midfielder/forward Ryan Thurman (Lakota East) has a goal in seven starts for Cedarville (7-2-3).
• Sophomore midfielder Kyle Maxam (Lakota West) has started all but one game for Mount Vernon Nazarene (9-4).
Football
Sophomore Jared Oehler (Edgewood) kicked off twice for 123 yards last weekend in Ohio Northern’s 38-7 victory over Heidelberg. The Polar Bears are 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
