This comes as his frequent injuries have limited him to playing 14 of the team’s 25 games and the NBA trade deadline is set for Sunday for the players who signed free agent contracts this summer.
The Grizzlies traded for Kennard at the 2023 NBA trade deadline in hopes the sharp-shooter could help their playoff run that season. Kennard, 28, who was traded by the LA Clippers, averaged 25.6 minutes in 39 games last season.
He averaged 11 points, 3.5 assists and 45% on 3-point shooting for the Grizzlies last season.
In the off-season, Kennard, a free agent, agreed to a one-year, $11 million contract to stay with the Grizzlies. That contract makes him a potential target for teams in need of a 3-point shooter. Kennard is a career 43.8% three-point shooter, trailing only Steve Kerr and Hubert Davis all time.
Since signing Kennard, the Grizzlies have added talented players, including shooters, making him expendable.
The Grizzlies are 17-8 and in second place in the Western Conference.
After two seasons at Duke, Kennard was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 12th pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers.
