FC Cincinnati will be building its training facility in Milford.

Milford City Council has a special meeting tonight for FC Cincinnati to present its plans to construct a “world-class team training complex” on 23.6 acres of land at the Expressway Park softball complex and adjoining property.

Hamilton, proposing a site at Spooky Nook at Champion Mill, was among the many cities that made a pitch to FC Cincinnati to be a host for its training facility, FCC General Manager and President Jeff Berding told the Journal-News last June.

The estimated $30 million project in Milford – of which the construction will be privately financed by the team – is expected to be operational by July 2019, during the FCC’s first Major League Soccer season. The complex will serve as the base for FC Cincinnati’s soccer operations, including the MLS first team and future FCC Academy’s training and performance activities, and the FCC first team will move in January 2019 with plans to utilize temporary team facilities until construction is complete.

The FC Cincinnati training complex will include three full-size, lighted soccer fields (two grass, one artificial turf), as well as a goalkeeper-specific training area. The MLS team will be housed in a 30,000 square-foot, multilevel building abutting the fields, while the FCC Academy teams will have their own separate 6,500 sq. ft. center along the practice fields. Additionally, there will be a 3,000 square-foot maintenance facility on the property.
