The Cincinnati Museum Center’s iconic fountain outside Union Terminal will flow again starting this week.

The fountain has been out of operation for the past three summers while the museum has undergone major renovations.

The fountain will be turned back on this Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m., the museum announced today in a press release.

After more a two-and-a-half year restoration to preserve historic Union Terminal, Cincinnati Museum Center reopened last November.

For the first time in its 85-year history, Union Terminal received a full structural restoration. The primary goal of the $224 million project was to address significant water damage suffered over eight decades and to prevent future water penetration, according to the Museum Center.

To achieve this goal, exterior masonry, windows, rooftops, the fountain and plaza were repaired, replaced and waterproofed. Historic spaces and artwork critical to the building’s historic fabric were also restored.

The Cincinnati Museum Center is home to The Duke Energy Children’s Museum, Museum of Natural History & Science and Cincinnati History Museum.
