A Middletown woman shot a suspect during an alleged burglary attempt Wednesday night at her home.

Thieves broke into two Middletown homes under construction and stole more than $3,000 worth of items, according to a police report.

Police were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Galileo Lane on a report of a theft. A representative from Fischer Homes told police that someone stole a front door off the residence sometime Tuesday.

The door, described as a Masonite Front Entry with a two-panel bottom, was valued at $1,200, according to the report.

That same day, police responded to another residence on the same street. A representative from Fischer Homes told police that someone went on the first floor and stole a water heater, valued at $750. The thieves cut the plastic pipes and the lines from the heater, the report said.

On the back patio, the thieves put up insulated board to block the view inside the home, according to the report. The suspects went upstairs and took the Goodman furnace valued at $1,500.
