Construction will occur in two phases, and traffic will be maintained with no anticipated closures during the first phase. Phase two is expected to begin in July with a full closure until completion of the project, approximately three weeks. Detours will be clearly posted in advance of the closures, and residential access within the construction limits will be maintained.
The $1.49 million project is being funded with federal and state dollars and Ford Development Corporation will do the work. The tentative completion date is July 31 and officials say the new roundabout will improve overall safety at the intersection in time for school to start in August.
There is another Butler Warren Road roundabout project coming at Barret Road this one is a joint project with the city of Mason. The price came in at $1.67 million, federal funding will cover 80% at $1.3 million and the county and Mason each will pay $166,900.
“Folks on the eastern side of the township know Butler Warren can be a bit of a bear to travel on and hopefully these two roundabouts will make it safer and quicker to get around,” West Chester Trustee Ann Becker said previously.
