Beckett Springs is set to embark on an expansion project that will add services to the facility for children and adolescents.

The West Chester Twp. facility, which offers inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment services, is adding 24 inpatient beds and expanding its outpatient setting to accommodate children and teens, according to Jeff Pritchard, the facility’s CEO.

“We have a lot of folks looking for services, we treat a lot of people and, quite honestly, the need’s there in the community,” he said. “We’re a busy, busy hospital and you want to make sure you can serve all numbers and 72 beds … hasn’t been enough.”

The behavioral hospital opened in mid-2013 at 8614 Shepherd Farm Drive.

A 24-bed expansion project occurred in 2015, and the facility was fully staffed and at full capacity by March 2016, Pritchard said.

Construction on the latest expansion is expected to be completed by mid-December, he said.
