UPDATE @ 11:36 a.m.:

Fairfield Public Utilities Director Adam Sackenheim said hundreds of gallons of water per minute poured out of a water main break on Seward Road this morning.

Crews are on scene to repair the break, but Sackenheim said there could be multiple breaks.

Water main breaks are a “fairly routine situation” on this stretch of road, he said, where the water main is scheduled to be replaced in 2020.

Sackenheim said the goal is to have the repairs made and the road re-opened by 4 p.m. today.

INITIAL REPORT:
