Hundreds of jobs are available at hospital and doctor networks in the region, including clinical and non-clinical positions, and a series of upcoming job fairs are being held to fill openings.
The next job fair is tomorrow in Dayton. Premier Health, the nonprofit operating Atrium Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital and Upper Valley Medical Center, as well as a network of doctor practices, has approximately 600 job openings currently listed, according to spokesman Patrick Higgins.
Resumes are being accepted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Dayton Convention Center, located at 22 E. Fifth St. in downtown Dayton.
“We’ve been growing and we’re seeing continued growth in the existing facilities as well,” said Shelley Franz, director of talent acquisition for Premier Health.
For those wondering if a job fair is worth going to, Franz said Premier hired about 165 people from a job fair held in March. Those who attend Saturday’s event will still be asked to apply online. Even for those who’ve already applied online, this is an opportunity to meet hiring decision makers in-person, Franz said.
She recommends arriving early Saturday and bringing multiple resumes, and said to expect to wait.
“When we do a job fair and we open up the doors it’s about people being able to meet hiring managers and being able to meet more people in a day than just scheduling interviews,” she said.
Also, Mercy Health has several job fairs planned in coming weeks. The Cincinnati-based health care system has about 90 job openings in the Cincinnati market, and several hundred when including the rest of its Ohio and Kentucky footprint including Community Mercy Health Partners in Springfield, according to spokeswoman Nanette Bentley. Attendees can participate in on-site interviews with recruiters and hiring managers.
Events scheduled include:
- Wednesday, Sept. 2, 4 to 8 p.m., at Brio Tuscan Grille, The Greene Town Center, 4459 Cedar Park Drive, Beavercreek
- Thursday, Sept. 17, 4 to 8 p.m., Mercy Health — West Hospital, 3300 Mercy Health Blvd., Cincinnati

Additionally, Cincinnati-based TriHealth, which owns Bethesda Butler Hospital in Hamilton and partners with McCullough-Hyde Memorial in Oxford, is planning a job fair in November to prepare for the opening of the Hamilton hospital expansion in February 2016, according to spokesman Joe Kelley. Currently there are 30 openings, but about 70 new positions will be added, the majority of which will be nursing and other allied health care providers, Kelley said.
Dayton-area based Kettering Health Network also has about 800 job openings listed on its careers website. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has over 600 job openings in Ohio, according to its website.
