The family of 3-year-old Hannah Wesche, who was allegedly severely injured by a woman caring for her, says the accused was a “perfect babysitter on paper.”

Lindsay Partin, 35, of the 4000 block of Shank Road in Hanover Twp., is charged with felony child abuse and felonious assault for allegedly shaking Hannah on Thursday morning. The girl remains hospitalized and is not expected to recover.

“We know she is not going to make it. We are waiting for medicine to wear off so they can do an examination,” Jason Wesche, Hannah’s father, said today.

Wesche and Hannah’s aunt, Megan Latham, said they are disturbed by some of the comments on social media pointing fingers at the family for leaving the toddler with Partin.

“She is a neighbor, she has children of her own. Jason knows her,” Latham said.

She added that other parents also trusted Partin to babysit their children.

During arraignment Monday, Partin’s defense attorney Melynda Cook Howard pointed out the defendant had no criminal background and has strong family ties to Butler County.

Bond was set at $30,000, and Partin posted bond a couple of hours later.

Wesche and Latham said Hannah did have bumps and bruises like any other child playing and occasionally falling.

“But it was never anything serious or severe,” Latham said.

Jason Wesche said Hannah never expressed any concern about Partin and even hugged her when leaving daily. Partin has been Hannah’s babysitter since July, according to Jason Wesche.

“She was the perfect babysitter on paper,” he said.
