TRIHEALTH ACQUISITIONS
March 2012: TriHealth purchased the former Butler County Medical Center on Hamilton-Mason Road in Hamilton effective March 2012. It has since been renamed TriHealth Bethesda Butler Hospital.
Jan. 2013: TriHealth announced it purchased the Evendale Medical Center, Evendale Imaging Center and Evendale Medical Center at Westside to meet growing demand for surgery and "patient-focused care" among its expanding patient base.
Feb. 2013: TriHealth announced it bought the independent Hamilton doctors group General and Vascular Surgeons of Butler County. In announcing that physicians of General and Vascular Surgeons have joined TriHealth, the network also said that it has formed the new general surgery doctors practice TriHealth Surgical Institute.
Sept. 2013: TriHealth announced the purchase of Tri-State Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates, a group of 10 maternal-fetal specialists.
Oct. 2013: TriHealth announced it purchased all five physicians and 13 employees of Pulmonary Consultants Inc., a pulmonary group practice for adults. The practice is now known as TriHealth Pulmonary Medicine.
Oct. 2013: TriHealth said it acquired Northeast Center for Women's Health, since renamed TriHealth Women's Services Northeast, a practice including three physicians and 11 employees.
Dec. 2013: Associates in Ob-Gyn has joined the TriHealth family, effective Dec. 1, 2013.
Jan. 2014: TriHealth on Tuesday announced plans to acquire Hand Surgery Specialists Inc., a group of nine board-certified hand surgeons and their 70 employees. The practice will now be known as TriHealth Hand Surgery Specialists and join the TriHealth Orthopedic and Spine Institute. The group will continue see patients at ten locations, including offices in West Chester Twp. and at Bethesda Arrow Springs in Lebanon.
TriHealth announced Tuesday it has acquired the practice Hand Surgery Specialists Inc., a group of nine board certified surgeons with 70 employees.
The Montgomery-based practice — now known as TriHealth Hand Surgery Specialists — joins the TriHealth Orthopedic and Spine Institute and will continue to see patients at 10 locations, including local offices in West Chester Twp. and Lebanon.
The hand surgeons joining TriHealth are Drs. Peter Stern, John McDonough, Thomas Kiefhaber, Paul Fassler, T. Greg Sommerkamp, Daniel Reilly, Andrew Markiewitz, Andrew Cross and Benjamin Kleinhenz.
“Our group provides high quality, specialty care for our patients and works closely with hand therapists to maximize patient’s results and outcomes,” said Dr. Thomas Kiefhaber, one of three founding members of Hand Surgery Specialists. “We look forward to working with TriHealth to improve patient care while continuing our mission of educating residents and hand surgery fellows and advancing the science of hand surgery through research.”
TriHealth Hand Surgery Specialists uses both surgical and non-surgical approaches to treat all problems of the hand and upper extremity, TriHealth reports. The physicians serve about 25,000 outpatient visits each year. Each of the surgeons in the group completed specialty training in hand and micro vascular surgery through a hand surgery fellowship which was completed after their orthopedic or general surgery training.
Current patients of TriHealth Hand Surgery Specialists will continue to see their physicians, and can now have access to a comprehensive range of services within TriHealth including primary care and specialty physicians, according to TriHealth. - Dr. Stern, a founding member of the practice, has served as chairman of the University of Cincinnati Department of Orthopedic surgery for 23 years.
- Dr. McDonough, the third founding member, is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and author of many scientific papers and book chapters.
- Dr. Kiefhaber has a special interest in treating elbow and wrist disorders.
- Dr. Fassler, who pursued advanced training in free tissue transfer and nerve reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic, is interested in traumatic injuries of the upper extremity including those related to sports and industry.
- Dr. Sommerkamp, also a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, is interested in research of arthroscopic fixation of scaphoid fractures and distal radius fractures.
- Dr. Reilly specializes in shoulder treatment and joint replacement.
- Dr. Markiewitz, a counselor for the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine, is active in all areas of hand and upper extremity concerns, especially pediatric and general sports and traumatic hand injuries.
- Dr. Cross has experience in a wide range of hand and upper extremity conditions in patients of all ages.
- Dr. Kleinhenz's specialty in hand surgery has been influenced by exposure to trauma, reconstructive surgery and sport injuries.
