A Middletown man was pronounced dead after his sportscar hit another vehicle and flipped on its top on University Boulevard.

A Middletown man was pronounced dead after his sportscar hit another vehicle and flipped on its top on University Boulevard.

Michael Henderson, 48, of Middletown, was killed in a crash on University Boulevard when the sports car he was driving at a high rate of speed struck another vehicle, struck another car, and landed on its top.

Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Hamilton post said Henderson was driving a 2019 Mazda Mx-5 northbound on University Boulevard near Park Lane before 6:30 p.m. Saturday and hit a 2014 Suburu driven by 82-year-old Barbara Wiegert of Middletown.

“Mr. Henderson was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the Suburu from the rear,” according to a patrol news release.

Henderson’s car went off the left side of the roadway and hit a curb. It then rolled onto its top, coming to a stop on the roadway. Weigert was transported to Atrium Hospital for minor injuries.

The patrol said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The wreck remains under investigation.
