Community First Solutions is turning 100 years old this year and wants to share the milestone with clients, employees and the community throughout 2018.

The non-profit has come up with a unique way to celebrate.

Throughout the year, the organization, which offers a variety of services ranging from social services to meals on wheels to the public, plans to hand-deliver free birthday cakes to those turning 100.

Danielle Webb of Community First said being part of a group that has served the community for 100 years is unique in itself, and it is important for it to always give to older residents, who receive a bulk of the services provided by the agency.

“It’s an honor to be part of an organization that has been serving the community for a century,” she said. “Though we provide a diverse array of services, including behavioral health and pharmacy, the organization was established in 1918 to serve older adults, and that remains a significant part of our mission today.

“We thought kicking off the celebration by connecting with individuals who have been part of our community for 100 years would be a great place to start our year of celebration.”

Katie Wright, also of Community First, said the idea was to have some fun with the birthday celebration and let people in the community share in the revelry.

She said those who want to have a loved one turning 100 this year participate in the celebration can request a complimentary birthday cake, which will be baked by Hamilton business The Almond Sisters and delivered by Community First ambassadors, by visiting community-first.org and clicking on “Community First Turns 100.”

People can also call Melissa Hard at 513-785-4051 to sign up for the celebration.

Wright said that those wanting to sign up should be be prepared to provide the name, address and birth date of the individual celebrating turning 100 years old, as well as contact information for an individual Community First can work with closer to the date to arrange for delivery.
