Here are five things you may not know about the club, which is celebrating its 97th anniversary this year:
1. In 1920, George M. Verity urged the board of directors of Armco to purchase 500 acres of land called East Hill Farms. The land later became home to what was called the Middletown Community Golf Club and Miami University Middletown.
2. Armco leased that land to the Chamber of Commerce for the operation of the nine-hole golf course. The golf course opened on May 6, 1922.
3. Nine holes were added on April 10, 1928 and the name was changed to Wildwood Golf Club.
4. All 18 holes are named, including No. 3 (Long Boy), No. 9 (Road Side), No. 13 (Horseshoe), and No. 18 (Home).
5. The course record is held by Michael Roberts, who fired a 12-under 59.
