Teen killed in Reily Twp. after car collides with road equipment

The preliminary investigation of the fatal crash that killed a Harrison teen indicates she pulled in front of the machinery operated by a Butler County Engineer’s Office employee, according to the sheriff’s office.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Kayla Duerler, 16, was driving a 2013 Toyota when she pulled out in front of a Gradeall truck driven by Joshua Allen, 36, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office and Butler County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate.

INITIAL REPORT:

A Harrison teen died Wednesday afternoon in a crash on Reily-Millville Road.

Kayla Duerler, 16, died of traumatic injuries, when the car collided with a large piece of machinery near the intersection of Bunker Hill Woods Road in Reily Twp., according to the coroner’s office.

Two others were injured in the crash. One person was transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital.

According to Chris Petrocy, spokesman for the Butler County Engineer’s Office, a county employee was operating a machine used for excavating ditch lines. Petrocy said the vehicle was on its way to Stateline-Center Road.

He declined to comment on the status of the employee.

“It is a sad, terrible situation,” he said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
