Hall said the hay made it “more difficult” to put out the fire. Heavy equipment was used to pull all of the hay out of the barn, he said.
The building and its contents were a total loss. Hall didn’t know the value of the property loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Hall said.
No firefighters or Norvell’s employers were hurt, he said.
Madison received mutual aid from Trenton, Wayne Twp., St. Clair Twp., German Twp. and Carlisle, Hall said.
After Madison left the fire at Norvell’s, firefighters were called to a large field fire on Jacksonburg Road, just south of Ohio 73, Hall said.
He said 20 to 30 acres were burned, but firefighters stopped the fire before it reached nearby structures and houses, according to Hall.
