Preliminary plans for the new 4,000-square-foot dispensary in a single-tenant structure to be constructed on a 1.87-acre lot at 300 N. Main St. were submitted last week, he said. City staff will review plans for conformance to development codes and landscape regulations, Chesar said.
If the site plans meet city codes and regulations, city staff will forward it to the Planning Commission for consideration at their Aug. 17 meeting, he said.

Until the Planning Commission approves the site plan, no applications for building permits can be submitted, Chesar said.
If the project is approved and building permits are issued, CannAscend Alternative is planning to begin construction on Sept. 4 and complete construction by Jan. 16, 2019.

In their site plan application, CannAscend Alternative officials said after the building is constructed, it will be inspected by officials from Ohio Pharmacy Board and the Medical Marijuana Control Program before going into operation and on an ongoing basis.

Monroe is one of two Butler County locations where medical marijuana licenses were granted last month. The other license will be located in Seven Mile.
There were 56 licensees approved statewide from a pool of 376 applications last month that included 11 applicants from Butler County. A total of 12 dispensary licenses were awarded for the Dayton-Cincinnati region. One license was awarded in nearby Lebanon in Warren County.
Monroe is also the site of a Level II cultivation license that was awarded to Hemma LLC who is building a growing facility at 100 Edison Drive. According to state officials, Level II licenses allow for growing spaces for up to 3,000 square feet.
