A seven hour standoff in Liberty Twp. ended Thursday after gas canisters were fired into a residence to get suspects to surrender, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched about 3:10 a.m. to assist the Ohio Highway Patrol with a pursuit that had begun in Clermont County and had entered Liberty Twp.

The subjects had a violent criminal history with one having an open warrant for assault in Butler County. Their vehicle was located at Lake Liberty on Linn Road and two suspects entered the residence that was known to them and refused to come out.

The Butler County Regional S.W.A.T. Team responded to the scene and assisted in executing a search warrant of the property.

After several hours, gas canisters were shot into the residence to persuade the suspects to exit about 10 a.m., said Capt. Morgan Dallman.

A fully loaded weapon was recovered from the suspect vehicle and one suspect was taken into custody. The investigation and search for the second suspect is on-going by the highway patrol.

“Doesn’t matter which patch is on what uniform. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office will help when called,” said Sheriff Richard Jones.
