An Oxford man told police he is worried his father is recruiting people to retaliate against him for a July 4 arrest by blowing up his mobile home.

An officer inside the Oxford Walmart at 12:15 a.m. March 24 noticed a male and female in the store acting suspicious, but the female began acting normally when she saw the officer, according to a police report.

The male, however, kept turning away and avoiding eye contact with the officer and then moving away from the female.

They were together again near the checkout area of the store ,and the report noted when the male saw the officer again, he took off walking toward the front door. When he went passed the security stand, the alarm went off.

The officer noted large bulges in the pockets of the man’s hoodie and back of his pants. Out in the parking lot, he complied with the order to stop. He was asked what he had taken from the store and replied, “some fishing stuff.”

In his hoodie pocket were two bottles of DKNY perfume, one bottle of Juicy Couture perfume and one bottle of Eternity for Men cologne, with all bottles still in the plastic wrapping. The large bulges in the back of his pants were two Abu Garcia bait casters inside the top of his underwear and a third Abu Garcia bait caster was found in the front of his pants.

The total of the merchandise stolen and recovered was $359.37.

He was also found to have a small yellow bag with an unknown substance which he identified as a heroin/ fentanyl mixture which is to be sent to the lab for testing.

He identified himself as Ronald Estes, but at the police station, he admitted he had provided his brother’s information and admitted to the lie because he did not want to get his brother in trouble. His name was actually Stephen Estes and a records check revealed a total of five warrants from Fairfield, Hamilton and the sheriff’s Department, one of them for a felony violation.

He was charged with theft and obstructing official business and taken to the Butler County Jail.
