A 29-year-old man is dead following a shooting Thursday night in Middletown’s Mayfield neighborhood, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Lacy Court about 7:30 p.m. and found the man on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Gunshots were also heard in the area shortly before police found the victim.

The victim was taken to Atrium Medical Center, where he later died.

Mykael Callahan was shot multiple times and his body was being autopsied Friday, according to Warren County Coroner Dr. Russell Uptegrove. His death was ruled a homicide.

Two people who called 911 reported hearing multiple gunshots, then seeing a car speed away.

A female caller said she heard six shots in rapid fire and a dark sports car driving away.

A caller from the Lacy Court scene said “somebody shot him and drove off.”

She called the victim “Mike” and said he was not responsive, but they were trying to render aid.

Middletown Sgt. Sam Allen said there was a dispute involving several people outside before the shooting happened. Detectives are continuing to interview people who were in the area.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kristi Hughes at 513-425-7733 or kristih@cityofmiddletown.org or call the police dispatch center at 513-425-7700.
