PHOTOS: Butler County holds first trial during coronavirus pandemic with increased precautions

Middletown Division of Police detective Jason Wargo shows evidence from the witness stand in the Butler County's first jury trial since the coronavirus pandemic started. Opening statements started Tuesday,, July 28, 2020 for the trial of Mezahn Demarco Amison, 21, who is facing charges of murder and felonious assault for allegedly killing Zachariah Wallace, 17, on Dec. 6.
In May, Judge Jennifer McElfresh postponed Amison's trial, citing coronavirus concerns and set the new trial date. The trial is being held is a special courtroom outfitted with safety precautions. Plexiglass has been installed in a visiting judge's courtroom that separates jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the judge. NICK GRAHAM / STAFF
