Grand juries, which meet in secret, review criminal charges brought by police and prosecutors and investigate possible criminal behavior. The proceedings are usually one-sided, because the accused is not present and witnesses are not cross-examined.

A grand jury may issue an indictment if it finds probable cause that a crime was committed and the accused person is responsible. An indictment is an accusation that must then be proven in court. The grand jury may also elect to issue no indictment.

Rodney J. Williams, 4422 Crittenden Ave., Indianapolis, In.; indicted on two counts each of forgery (direct) and theft by deception (direct).

Elizabeth A. Thompson, 2220 Fernwood St., Middletown; indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

Sean Ryan Adner, 306 Garfield St., Middletown; certified back to the lower court on two counts of criminal damaging or endangering.

Michael B. Bunch, 2016 Queen Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count each of receiving stolen property and attempted misuse of credit card.

Tyler Rutherford, 478 Wyoming Ave., Fairfield; certified back to the lower court on one count of exceeding permitted noise limits, and indicted on one count each of possession of cocaine, making false alarms, obstructing official business, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to reinstate a license.

Cody F. Schwegmann, 505 Millville Ave., Hamilton; indicted on one count each of aggravated possession of drugs and petty theft.

Sylvester Douglas McKinnon III, 1115 Chestnut St., Hamilton; certified back to the lower court on one count each of open container, driving under suspension, marked lanes, and failure to display license plates or tags; and indicted on one count each of tampering with evidence, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, obstructing official business, failure to disclose personal information, and operating a vehicle under the influence.
