On May 30, it was reported to an Oxford police officer working a private detail at the school on Westgate Drive that Allen was suspected of misuse of the school’s debit/credit card. That investigation resulted in Allen being charged with misdemeanor theft.
Evidence collected in that investigation also revealed Allen had explicit material involving children in his possession, according to police.
Allen was charged Sept. 18 on 16 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and four counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance. Ten of the charges are second-degree felonies, eight are fourth-degree felonies and two are fifth-degree felonies.
Oxford police said it is not believed any of the children from the school are involved.
Allen was arrested Sept. 19 and remains housed in the Butler County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
McGuffey Montessori School released a statement regarding Allen, saying in part, “Mr. Allen was terminated in May because of his failure to perform the duties of Head of School. Other than suspecting misappropriation of funds, we were not aware of any criminal activity at the time of his termination.”
