Sorry Middletown City Schools students but you’ll soon be paying for that longer-than-usual summer break you enjoyed last year with a shorter one this time around.

That’s what happens when your district needed extra time to finish up a historic $86 million construction project during 2018’s summer break.

Classes last year in Middletown started Sept. 4.

While most K-12 students in Butler County and Warren County will be ending school year around May 23, Middletown Middies will be in class until June 7 before finally hearing the last ringing of the class bells starting summer vacation.

Middletown students will be starting classes for the 2019-20 school year on Aug. 13, about three weeks earlier than last year.

Middletown Schools opened a new middle school and a renovated, expanded Middletown High School last September, pushing back the district’s traditional first day of classes from mid-August.

The last class day for other districts are:

Hamilton Schools: Tuesday, May 21

Edgewood Schools: Wednesday, May 22

Fairfield Schools: Wednesday, May 22

Franklin Schools: Wednesday, May 22
