One of the two crashes involved a semi truck and two passenger vehicles, while the other involved two passenger vehicles, Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatchers said.
In the first crash, according to a release from the OSHP Lebanon post, at around 4:11 p.m., 51-year-old Zahid Khan of Sachse, Texas, was driving a 2017 Freightliner semi truck southbound on I-71 when he drove across the median and crashed into several trees.
The semi continued into the northbound lanes, causing several trees to hit other vehicles, before the semi went back into the median and again crashed into the trees.
One tree hit a vehicle driven by Mosep Okonny, 27, of Cincinnati, which cause her to hit the median and flip over. Another tree and debris hit a vehicle driven by Raymond Dratt, 55, of Lebanon.
Okonny was flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital by Air Care. Her condition is not known at this ime.
Khan was taken to Bathesda North Hospital, where he was treated and released. Dratt was not injured.
The press release did not give details of the second, two-vehicle crash. It is not known how many were injured, if any, in the second crash.
I-71 was closed for around three hours.
Early reports indicated that people may have been trapped by the crash.
OSHP said it was assisted at the scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Union Township Fire and Deerfield Township Fire and EMS.
