Numprik Thai Lao opened Sunday at 214 S. Main St. in Monroe in the space that previously was Red Onion Bar & Grill.

Owner Laiwan Flanigan said the restaurant combines Thai and Lao cuisine. The restaurant takes its name from a type of spicy, chili-based hot sauce typical of Thai cuisine.
