New home permits up for Cincinnati region, down in Butler County

Single-family new home permits throughout the region jumped by 20.5 percent in the month of July, and are up 14.6 percent overall for the year, reports the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati.

Altogether, there were a total of 1,723 single-family permits issued through July in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties, compared to 1,504 in 2016.

Butler County experienced a year-to-date decrease of 8.9 percent, with 359 total permits, compared to 394 at this point last year. Warren County continues to have the most overall number of permits with a total of 807 single-family permits from January through July, a 33.2 percent increase.

Hamilton Twp. in Warren County, which hosted HBA’s Homearama this year and is scheduled to do so again in 2018, leads the region with a total of 199 single-family permits through July. Butler County’s Liberty Twp. was close behind, reporting 159 permits during this period.

Hamilton County also dropped 6.8 percent year to date. A total of 290 single-family permits have been issued in the county through July, compared to 311 in 2016.

Clermont County led all four counties for the first time in recent memory, registering a 38.3 percent increase with a total of 267 single-family permits through July, compared to only 193 in 2016.
