Boston police confirmed to Boston 25 News Bird is currently being guarded at a local hospital for an evaluation after a domestic incident happened in Brighton on Friday night.

Authorities said the victim involved was also transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

Complaints will be sought against Bird for assault and battery, as well as strangulation and kidnapping.

The Boston Celtics released the following statement Saturday morning regarding the incident:
"We are aware of the incident involving Jabari Bird and are taking it very seriously. We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."

The incident left many Celtics fans upset as they heard the disturbing news.

"Disappointed, especially wearing the Celtics colors," Kevin Barry said. "So disappointed. To make it to the NBA and then throw it all away, it's sad."

Bret Clancy, another Celtics fan, reiterated some fans' feelings that there should be no tolerance for assault in the NBA.

"Get him out of here," Clancy said. "He's lucky to be in the NBA, right? You can't behave, you don't deserve to be playing for the Celtics."

Clancy said he was also left disappointed by the news and said the incident should serve as an example for future Celtics players.

"You wanna see guys that have character and great players that people can latch onto," Clancy said. "We need more of those in Boston."
