She started training for men’s hair replacement in 1986 and training for women’s hair replacement in 1995, including solutions for people with balding or thinning hair.

“I’ve had to do quite a bit of traveling to obtain this training,” she said. “I opened Genesis Hair Solutions, formerly known as Genesis Hair Replacement, in 1999 because I wanted to specialize in hair replacement and I needed a more private facility that would cater to the needs of individuals who are experiencing hair loss.”

The business provides regular hair cutting, coloring, perming and styling along with its sister company Salons On Central, which rents styling rooms to hairstylists.
Most of Ruthemeyer’s time is spent on customizing and maintaining hair replacement solutions for both women and men.
“My clients decide on how much hair they want to add and then we customize a solution that is ordered to their exact specification and handmade overseas, most with human hair,” she said. “When we receive them we cut and blend them into their existing hair.”

Genesis Hair Solutions moved from a smaller office on Breiel Boulevard to 3538 Central Ave. in 2016 to expand its services.

Genesis also works with chemotherapy patients that need hair for a time until their growing hair returns and features a wig room with nearly 60 wigs in stock that clients are able to try on and order in their color choice.
“Traci, my associate, specializes in something called MicroPoint Link where she is able to add four hairs to a growing hair,” Ruthemeyer said. “This is for clients that want just a little more hair. We also offer a hair product line called Hair Support. We have seen the appearance many of our clients thin, fine hair improved by using these products.”
She said Genesis Hair Solutions is one of the few hair replacement centers in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas that offers such a ride wide range of hair replacement solutions.
“I find that many of my fellow hairstylists in town really enjoy working with their clients’ hair after they add a little more hair,” Ruthemeyer said. “It makes their job a little easier to accomplish the look their clients want.”
