Middletown police arrested a well-known drug dealer in the city Monday night as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

Lt. Jamie Wilcox said the Middletown Special Investigations Unit along with patrol officers arrested William “Pooh” Peters Jr. after executing a search warrant at 1018 Jackson Lane.

Wilcon said in a statement that “almost three ounces of heroin/fentanyl was located along with $6,200 in cash. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered as well. The seized drugs have a street value of about $5,000.”

Police labeled Peters Jr. as a career drug dealer with numerous arrests including drug trafficking. He is now in the Middletown City Jail for trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, possession of drugs, and having weapons under disability.

Felony drug arrests in Middletown have increased from 275 last year at this time to 442, according to data released by police.
