Middletown police responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Crawford Street this morning.

A Middletown man told police that he fired a shot, but didn’t want to ‘kill’ the individual who ran into his apartment.

The man told police he was sleeping at 8:15 a.m. today when he heard someone banging on the door of his apartment in the 100 block of Crawford Street, according to the police report.

He grabbed his gun and walked to his front door where he saw a man looking through the window of his door. He told the intruder that if he didn’t leave, he would be shot, according to the report.

The intruder then left and got into a car that belonged to the man in the apartment. The man left his apartment, walked to his car and pointed his gun at the man in his car.

The man left the vehicle and ran into the apartment, the report said. That’s when the man turned and fired one shot, missing the intruder, the report said.

Both men were transported to the police department for questioning.
