MORE: Drone school coming to Middletown
This will allow as many as five cycles of school-term classes to introduce these pathway to students, said Matt Eisenbraun, the city’s assistant economic development coordinator, provided the new facility opens in June 2020.
“As the City moves forward with plans to construct an education focused aviation facility at the Middletown Regional Airport, it is necessary to secure and support programs and opportunities provided by education and workforce partners within the community,” Eisenbraun said. “With an eye towards providing full programming as soon as possible after beginning operations at the new facility for fiscal due diligence, there are curriculum opportunities which can be offered in the interim in order to have full classrooms moving forward.”
Eisenbraun said as part of the lease, Butler Tech will use the fall 2019 term to rehabilitate up to 2,700 square-feet of office space and buildout any required infrastructure. Currently this space is not occupied by any revenue-generating users, Eisenbraun said.
Provisions of the lease provide for moving the Butler Tech programming to the education facility once completed as well as reviewing additional, more appropriate spaces that may become available in the interim.
According to the lease, there will be no monthly charge to utilize the space in exchanged for Butler Tech to cover the costs of rehabilitating the space that is estimated at $15,000 and $20,000
