Rain is likely from 9 p.m. to midnight today and changes over to snow after that. It will be heavy and accumulate quickly. Here is the expected timing of this system’s impact, from our content partners at WCPO-9:
- Tuesday now to 9 p.m. - Mostly cloudy, dry and mild
- 9 p.m. to midnight - Rain begins
- Wednesday 1 to 3 a.m. - Rain turns to heavy snow, accumulates quickly
- 3 to 6 a.m. - Heavy snow continues, especially to the north, snow-covered roads, difficult travel
- 6 to 9 a.m. - Snow showers lift north, wintry mix takes over, travel is difficult
- 9 a.m. to noon - Very little on the radar, travel still a mess.
- Noon to 6 p.m. - Isolated showers, wintry mix at times.
Snow is expected to fall at 1-2 inches per hour and will coat road. Most will be done by 6 a.m. but the roads will possibly not be cleared enough for safe travel.
Wednesday’s weather may include additional precipitation, but a mixture, because temps will rise slowly. This could even be light rain. There won’t be new snow during daylight hours on Wednesday.
After dark on Wednesday, moisture could mean a light snowfall again, but accumulation would be minor.
Additional precipitation will still fall on Wednesday but with temperatures rising a few degrees, it will turn into more of a wintry mix, if not just light rain. No new snow accumulation is expected during the daylight hours Wednesday.
