Crews repair a utility pole at the scene of a fatal car crash at Tylersville Road and Mourning Dove on Wed., Nov. 17, 2021.

A 33-year-old man was killed in an early-morning, single-vehicle wreck Wednesday on Tylersville Road in Hamilton.

Police had not identified the man at the time of publication for this newspaper.

The vehicle was eastbound when it slid off the road, into a ditch and hit a telephone pole, snapping it in half around 2 a.m., according to Sgt. Rich Burkhardt.

The man was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Butler County’s crash reconstruction team responded to investigate.

Two of the vehicle’s tires went off the roadway.

“Then, when when he came back up, he slid off to the left of the road,” Burkhardt said.

The city utilities department had to use large trucks to repair the pole, and had to shut the road between Mourning Dove Lane and Gateway Avenue. It reopened before noon Wednesday.

Hamilton police said crashes in that area don’t happen often.
