911 call: Man shot himself in the chest at Monroe outlet mall

The results of an autopsy of a 21-year-old man who died after suffering a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Monroe Premium Outlets have not been released by the Warren County Coroner’s Office, but a 911 call indicates the gunshot may have been self-inflicted.

The Fairfield man was found outside his car, according to Monroe police.

A 911 caller told Monroe dispatchers the man shot himself near the Michael Kors store.

“A man just shot himself in the chest at the (expletive) premium outlets by Michael Kors,” the caller said.

The caller said the man was lying on the ground and was going in and out of consciousness.

INITIAL REPORT

A 21-year-old man is dead after suffering a gunshot wound Sunday evening in the parking lot at Premium Outlets Drive in Monroe, according to the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Officers were dispatched about 6:25 p.m. after dispatchers received a 911 call for a male with a gunshot wound, according to Officer Joshua King.

Officers started first aid and the victim was transported to Atrium Medical Center.

Warren County Coroner’s Investigator Doyle Burke said the man died at the hospital. His autopsy is scheduled for today.

This morning, King said there was no additional information available about the incident, but said detectives were continuing to investigate. There is no current threat to the public, he said.
