Fairfield police were dispatched at 1:27 a.m. Sunday to the bar, 6121 Dixie Highway, for a large fight. While en route, police were notified shots were fired, said police spokesman Officer Doug Day.
Day said that a second person, a 22-year-old woman, was treated for “bullet wounds” at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He said her injuries were not life-threatening. Day said the woman was taken to the hospital from a Cincinnati-area jurisdiction. Her connection to the case is unclear.
Fairfield police could give no additional information Monday about the investigation into the city’s first homicide of the year.
A man who answered the phone at the bar Monday said he could not comment on what had occurred.
Wyoming police said a driver flagged down a police officer around 1:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Wyoming and Burns avenues. The driver told the officer a woman in the vehicle had been shot, he said. The Wyoming Fire Department transported the woman to the hospital.
Day said he was told the woman is connected to the incident in Fairfield, but he did not know how nor could he identify her on Monday.
No arrests have been made, and Day said on Sunday the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation is aiding in the investigation.
