Green Twp. police Lt. Mitch Hill said at around 8:30 a.m. Monday, Brackenridge was riding in his grandmother’s vehicle when she pulled into a parking lot because “he started making comments for her to be fearful of her safety.”
The grandmother exited the vehicle and Brackenridge allegedly punched her in the face, took her keys and stole the vehicle. Green Twp. police officers pursued but shortly ended the pursuit.
“We tried to stop the car but he accelerated quickly to 100 mph, so with the traffic it was terminated,” Hill said.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the vehicle when it was on I-71, chasing him to Warren County.
After Brackenridge left the crashed car at the Western Row Road overpass, he fled toward Kings Island, said Mason police Lt. Jeff Burson. Mason police, Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Kings Island security assisted in his apprehension.
Park officials say he went to an unpopulated area, and law enforcement cleared the scene at 11:58 a.m., according to the Warren County Communications Center. Burson said Brackenridge was taken into custody without incident.
Park officials say some guests experienced a delay entering the park Monday morning, but operations returned to normal.
