Madison Schools were closed Friday and there was a prayer gathering scheduled for 6 p.m. in the elementary gym. A memorial was set up near the flagpole at the school.
“We are heartbroken to inform you of a tragic accident involving a(n) elementary student from our Mohawk family,” reads a message from the Madison Local School District made early Friday morning. “In light of this devastating event, there will be no school today for all students.”
Staff still reported to work Friday, the district said.
The district said had counselors available at the elementary school “for anyone needing support with this tragedy.”
“My thoughts and prayers go to the family and first responders to the scene,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
The accident remains under investigation by the Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office does not issue preliminary autopsy reports, and full reports can take up to 8 weeks.
