Sander said the resignation “surprised everyone on the board.”
The school board is now seeking a qualified resident to complete the final two years of Donisi’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2019.
According to state law, vacancies on a board of education are filled by a majority vote of all of the remaining board meetings at the next regular or special meeting held at least 10 days after the vacancy occurs. Sander said the school board will interview applicants and make an appointment to fill the vacancy at its Feb. 12 meeting.
Sander said to be considered for the vacancy, an applicant must be a resident in the district, eligible to vote and willing to serve for the remainder of the term. Interested candidates must submit a resume accompanied by a letter of interest to the attention of the Board President Chris Sizemore at 150 E. Sixth St., Franklin 45005.
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Feb. 7. Submissions will be time-stamped, and no resumes will be considered if they are received after the deadline.

Donisi was elected in 2015 to her first term on the school board.
A lifelong resident of Franklin and a 1978 graduate of Franklin High School, Donisi earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Miami University and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Dayton.
Donisi served the Franklin City Schools for 21 years as a math and science teacher in grades 4, 7 and 8; as assistant principal at Franklin Junior High School; and as principal at Hunter Elementary School before moving to the Clinton-Massie Local Schools as assistant superintendent.
She and her family reside in Franklin.
