MORE: Details about Fairfield park’s future
The parks and recreation department will bid out the architecture and engineering planning for a renovation of the overlook at the top of the sledding hill this fall with construction expected in 2018. That also includes a 3-mile perimeter path that circles the park.
“What we’ll do is look for grants for the trail, and we’ll be looking for smaller grants,” said Bell. “But we’ll probably be pushing dirt early next year for the upper area.”

The cost of the architecture and engineering is expected to be around $30,000, Bell said. The cost of the overlook and perimeter path has not been determined by an engineer’s estimate, but Bell said the overlook could be around $300,000 while the perimeter path could reach $600,000.
