“We filmed the video in about one hour before a regularly scheduled S.W.A.T. training exercise. It ended up being a fun, team-building activity and a positive way for us to virtually come together with fellow police departments across the country in a show of camaraderie,” Police Chief Joel Herzog said.
The lip sync challenge has been trending in police circles across the country this summer as departments challenge one another to record fun dance and music videos.

The West Chester Police Department was challenged by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
At the end of the video, Herzog slaps a sticker promoting the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s on the department’s tactical vehicle “the BEAR” (Ballistic Engineered Armored Response vehicle).
Herzog said he wanted to use the lip sync challenge to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
Locally, Alzheimer’s awareness events are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, at Voice of America Park in West Chester Twp. and Oct. 6 at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati.
