The Butler County for Trump campaign office on Cincinnati-Dayton Road opened its doors Thursday, and that could be an auspicious moment for the grassroots-initiated office as the St. John Catholic Church festival opened Friday evening.

“Everything happens for a reason,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones when asked if the opening coincided with the festival. “It’s a perfect location and I assume it’s going to be very crowded at Trump headquarters.”

In less than 24 hours, dozens of people have been inside the campaign office either making donations, receiving campaign material or asking how to volunteer, according to volunteers working the office.

The campaign office, which is a simple one-story home at 9023 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, will be “ground zero for the Trump Campaign for this region,” organizers said in a press release.

The office was not opened by the Trump campaign itself, but rather by the Butler County Republican Party. Butler County GOP officials say local Trump supporters couldn’t wait for the campaign to open a local office.

A request for comment from the Ohio Republican Party was referred to the Trump campaign, and a spokesman for the Trump campaign in Ohio could not be reached before deadline.

Jones said the criticism that this is not a so-called sanctioned campaign office in Olde West Chester is unjustified. He said the Butler County GOP communicated with the state party and Trump’s Ohio team, and there’s no need for a blessing for any county Republican Party to support its presidential nominee.

Two more Butler County for Trump offices will open, according to Jones — one in Middletown and one on Hamilton’s West Side.
